I need a new wardrobe

Or perhaps just more things to do with my current wardrobe.

I just did $10 worth of laundry - which included a week and a halfs worth of suitcase - and easily 35-40% of it was running attire. I don't know if that's sad or a good thing considering y'all are sponsoring me (some quite handsomly I might add - I truly am humbled - so thank you).

But I think I can say with a tiny bit of confidence (hope so anyways) that my social life hasn't been too irreversibly damaged. Although I've been out of commission Fridays for sure (we don't have a run left under 10 miles from here on out), but thanks to alluring chi-town rooftops, beaches, drink and food specials, weddings and fundraisers I think I do ok, and luckily my friends still call me...I'm a sucker for a nice day and a 'rita I guess.

So I am happy to report that I only have about $300 - yes folks - THREE HUNDRED - left to raise! So if you have yet to donate, think of me this Saturday morning wearing red and sweating, limping, cursing, gu-ing and crying out 20 miles while you're hungover - or maybe not. Maybe you'll just think of me and be happy that you're not the one running 20 miles - and grab your credit/debit card and help me out the rest of the way - it is, afterall - why I keep going.

OH - and I'm on to my second pair of shoes. quite a milestone - 300+ miles ran in the first pair. Those pink metallic un-beauties will be missed. Sorry Fleet Feet - I went with the physical therapists suggestion - and its a bonus that they just happen to be cuter. But hey - no hard feelings and thanks for the coupon.

Good night all. I'm going to attempt to match a mountain of sport socks. wish me luck.

Back on the Wagon

OK - so it's been pointed out to me more than once that I've not updated this in a while...and also pointed out to me that I probably should....and I agree.

So...as I sit here in anticipation of my new favorite dish from the rife* to be ready - while watching the new 90210 (yea I dunno why either - and WHEN did the side pony tail become trendy again?) - I figured I'd get some ish done. So in a very random, un-flowing thought process sort of way - and in no particular order - here are a few updates:

1) I'd like to say thank you to all who have joined, and then subsequently lost (myself included) - my NFL pool for charity. It raised me $185 - which I am still trying to get matched. We began with 37, and then thanks to the upsets of a few big teams - we are now down to 17 in just two weeks. Oh - and congrats to those still in it - cause a sure thing was not a sure thing these past two weeks. Unless you went with the Giants (my home slice btw).

So I am hereby announcing the next round of charity betting - the losers bracket (thanks for the suggestion Brian) of "which big team will lose next week." People with the most upsets at the end of the season win.

2) The donations have slowed way down - I have about $1,000 to go and the deadline is fast approaching (Friday actually is the official deadline -- but in the spirit of collecting more money - I'll actually have another month) but for all y'all who said you'd donate....now would be a great time. Oh and *ahem* Kev-o - you said you'd donate if Ohio State lost....sooooo...time to pay up. :)

3) I ran the Nike Human Race Labor Day weekend - which was the most crowded thing ever - after standing around they finally corralled the 14,000 Chi-towners onto a tiny path and out of the gates. Worldwide I came in 70,000th place....out of - i dunno how many runners - but 26 cities at 14,000 each - thats not bad. AND they even send you pics of yourself running! Check it out....

yea....so my strategy was - maybe I'll just find the shortest person and that's me. Cause - that didn't work. I'm not in that picture. Very nice of them to send that though, I think I'll purchase one and frame it. Actually if I am in the picture - I'd be somewhere around here:

4) We're having our big fantastic awsome and wonderful par-tay on October 11...all you can eat/drink and other fun activities for $30. It's the official Chi-town Chili Cookoff Contest - which is an actual contest with actual prizes for the winner - and also an auction and raffle and bags (aka cornhole - who knows why) and football (on big screens)...so contact me if you're interested - I'll send you the actual info - but it will be amazing. All sorts of it. Come.

5) Michelle and I will be having our birthday party in another all you can drink fashion on October 25th - location TBD. But I'll be officially in my late 20s. yikes.

6) My AIDS Marathon drawstring bags have come in. They are way cute and perfect for taking to the gym - and if you happen to be a dude then they are not cute at all - they are very manly. I'll update with a picture later. But they are available for purchase - 1 for $15, 2 for $25 and 3 for $30....all proceeds go to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

Welp friends, That should be it for now...I promise I'll try to update again soon. But I have two weddings I'm attending these next two weeks - so who knows.

OH - And I'm up to 16 miles now, 18 next weekend. That should be fun. ;)

Sorry I didn't get my run in today

I was watching Barack Obama....

wow.

I'd like to say profound thoughts to come - but B-rock's thoughts are more profound. Not to mention more eloquent.

wow.

Even Pat Buchanan thought it was great.

*sigh*

So I've run into a little snafoo with my knee - not to worry though - nothing that can't be worked on with a little TLC and some physical therapy...

so I have runners knee and IT band syndrome in my left leg - which according to the doc is caused by weak hips and a weak left butt (uh...)...

anywho - it's kind of fun actually - I get to go to physical therapy to fix my hips and left butt - and they rub the s**t outa my IT band - think sumo wrestler deep tissue massage -- on you thigh - for a long time. Its pretty darn painful - but in a good way. Only now I have litterally a line of bruises going down my thigh to my knee - so if anyone wants to know where their IT band is - i have a pretty runway marking the spot.

So I get to go twice a week until I run. I'm pretty excited about physical therapy though. Kinda like my war wound. Or from training wrong for years on end - but whatever. Its fun - I do tae bo leg exercises and get a leg massage at the same time.

I'll let y'all know how 14 miles goes this weekend. (PS - I'm up to 14 miles....- officially over halfway there!)
